Graduate Film L.I

All of his life Theodor Clayton has had UFO's crashing onto his lawn. Theodor buries the aliens found in the debris of these UFO's in a graveyard he has built up over the years. One evening Theodor is sitting at home reading, when unsurprisingly a UFO crashes... but this time all is not what it seems.

Film Update

I realise I haven't blogged in a while! I've been very busy with finishing my film and work experience and having a lot of fun in the process. But as promised weeks ago, here  are a few still photos from my film.

Thats all you're getting for now, but the film will go online sometime in June so don't miss that!

Business Card

As promised a few weeks back heres my business card. The design on the left is pretty much finalised, however I'm still playing around with the photo on the right. I'm testing out a QR code version, but for now this is the design I've got.

Filming is going well hopefully I'll post some stills from some shots I've done sometime soon. I'll also be putting up the last few posts on The Miro so check back soon for that.

Interior Set Part 4

Final props added to my interior set included a chair with cushions, a coffee table, a lamp, a bottle of whisky, a book and a mug.

The chair was made using EPE foam and soft foam, the EPE foam was used to give bulk and structure to the chair, while the soft foam was used on the seating and backrest sections. I covered the sections in material using UHU, then glued them all together also using UHU. I wish I took more photo's!

The coffee table was made from balsa wood and painted using acrylic paints. The book is named after my mate Joe Holts band.

The mug and bottle of whisky named Jack Downings after my other mate were sculpted in sculpey, the whisky label was made in illustrator and textured in photoshop.

The lamp was made from balsa painted in acrylic, and the lamp shade was made from wall paper.

Interior Set Part 3

As mentioned in a previous post the stairs were built up using balsa wood, using timber as support.

I acquired the desired colour of the steps the same way I did with the floor boards, building up layers of watered down acrylic paints.

A skirting board was made from balsa wood painted in acrylic and glued in place using UHU

The banister was made using a wooden dowel and balsa wood. Both painted using acrylic paint.

The paintings on the walls were created on the computer and printed off, mounting them to the back of balsa wood frames of various sizes.

The statue above is what the design of my alien was loosely based on, its apparently a statue of an ancient alien. The characters below are Theodor's dad and granddad.

The photo for Theodor's dad had to move, so I attached a pin to the back and press it into the wall so I could animate it.

The dado rail was made from balsa wood and the wallpaper was taken form a book I found.

The final side wall.
